Outdoor Cushion Foam
When looking for high quality foam for your outdoor seating, there are a number of characteristics that are important to consider. The comfort, resistance to the elements, and long-lasting potential are important things to consider when choosing your outdoor cushion foam.
There are a number of options that you can use to outfit your patio, boat, or seaside loungers, but only one that stands the test of time. Dry Fast Foam, or Open Cell foam, is formed through a process called “Hydroblast Reticulation” that creates an extremely porous material that allows water to pass right through.
Not absorbing any rain or seawater allows for an always dry, anti-microbial cushion that can be used throughout the year, rain or shine.
Polyester and polyurethane cushions will both soak up water and compress over time, which is why a chemical coating of biocide is important in the prevention of mold growth. Dry Fast outdoor cushion foam isn’t coated in chemicals and is a safe alternative to traditional cushion foam. Closed Cell foam is often used as a very firm foam for boat cushions or flotation devices. While it’s not as comfortable as Dry Fast foam, the cushion allows for absolutely no water absorption, preventing damp seating.
A combination of foams can be used for your cushion depending on the firmness you require, as well as to fit your usage needs. Most often, the decision making process for outdoor cushion foam comes down to a toss-up between Dry Fast foam and a closed cell foam. Both can be used together in order to allow for a completely water resilient cushion that can be customized to size, and matched with a fabric to complete the cushion.
